Medical ...
Theresa Phiri, the grandmother of two members of the Kafakumba Singers, had surgery for advanced cataracts by Dr Davison Kwendakwema on Friday 25 April. Imagine the joy of being able to see again after years of blindness! James Chiboni, a Grade 9 pupil at Limapela Cedric's, suffered a combined tibia-fibula fracture during a football match. Treatment at the Chamboli Hospital was unsuccessful, and James feared that he would never walk again. So we arranged internal fixation with metal hardware under orthopaedic surgeon Dr Nelson Banda. Happily, James is now convalescing at home. Thanks to those who contribute to our medical fund.
Building ...
Progress on the Lower Primary Centre building at at Limapela Cedric’s has been slow, due to late deliveries of building materials, but the building is looking better and better each week. Painting is all but finished, and floor tiles have now arrived from South Africa.
The planned secondary building is ready to start as soon as funding is available. We have applied for a grant from the Beit Trust which has helped to fund all three of our existing secondary buildings in previous years. The building site has now been cleared in preparation for building to begin.

Compassion Programme ...
We were very sad to hear of the death of Regina Lunkinda (19) who was one of a family of four orphans we have been supporting in Ndola. The death was caused by deep vein thrombosis. It seemed the more tragic in view of the sudden unexplained death of one of her brothers last year. Death never seems far away here in Africa.
Our thanks once again to you all for your interest, prayers and support. Please
